Australian Breeding Services Pty Ltd owns the Terraweena Stud and ‘Terraweena', the home property located in a scenic, hilly region 30 kms south of Toowoomba, Queensland. Known as the Darling Downs, the region is recognised as one of the prime agricultural areas in Australia where the animals run on undulating, wooded pastures with crops flourishing in the flatter areas.

The principals and major shareholders of Australian Breeding Services are Geof and Celia Burnett-Smith. Originally from Africa, the Burnett-Smiths migrated to Australia in 1985. When visiting Australia in 1980 they had identified the opportunity that existed to upgrade and establish the hardy breeds of Africa in the demanding Australian country regions. Once in Australia they set about making these aspirations a reality and ABS was formed in 1988 in partnership with the South Australian government.

Geof Burnett-Smith, Managing Director of ABS, is largely responsible for the development of the company and the marketing and promotion of the Boer goats overseas. Geof is wholly involved in the export arm of ABS with sound support from Emma Cabot, Office Manager, who attends to the administration of the company and the intricacies of the export documentation. As a team, they successfully conduct the exports of Terraweena genetics, in whatever form, to other countries of the world.

Celia is responsible for the day to day breeding and development of the Terraweena stud, whilst the husbandry and management of ‘Terraweena' itself is in the accomplished hands of Geof and Celia's son Angus and his wife Lara.

Over the years, the Burnett-Smiths and their staff have been operating as a training entity for the breeding and development of the Boer goats. Now, with the breed more or less fully established in Australia, Geof, Celia, Angus and Lara are able to enjoy the breeding and promotion of their fine stud - Terraweena
